AlphaSense was founded on a vision to transform how decisions are made among the world’s leading corporations and financial institutions. In the past decade, we’ve made immense progress toward this goal, surpassing 1,000 clients (including 50% of the S&P 100 and 70% of the top 50 investment firms), scaling to 350 employees and global presence across our offices in the U.S., Europe, and India, and partnering with some of the world’s most respected venture investors, including Innovation Endeavors (of which Eric Schmidt is a founding partner).
When I think about the business we’re going to build over the next decade, there is one thing that stands out as most mission critical: our people. With an impressive foundation in place, we’re ready to bring on the leaders who will help us pave the way toward the future of work: both for our organization, as well as for the thousands of organizations around the world who rely on AlphaSense to power data-driven decision making every day.
With that, I am thrilled to welcome two remarkable leaders to our executive team. John Reid-Dodick, a globally recognized and truly one-of-a-kind HR leader, is joining AlphaSense as our very first Chief People Officer. (John goes by the nickname “JRD.”) In addition, Joe Hill, an impressively experienced and well-respected finance leader, is joining us as Chief Financial Officer.
JRD joins AlphaSense from WeWork, where he most recently founded and led the company’s “cultureOS” Business, advising leaders of WeWork’s client companies on how to build and scale world-class cultures (and of course, how workspace plays a key role in shaping culture). Previously, he served as WeWork’s Chief People Officer, helping the organization scale from $300M to over $1B in revenue and from 1,000 to 4,100 employees globally in just two years. Prior to WeWork, JRD was Chief People Officer at Dun & Bradstreet, Chief People Officer at AOL, and Global Head of HR at Thomson Reuters Markets.
Throughout the time I’ve spent with JRD, I’ve been thoroughly impressed by his systematic approach to nurturing and scaling culture, particularly in high-growth businesses like ours. I’m confident that JRD will foster a culture that continues to attract and retain the best of the best as we deliver on our strategy. Beyond the impact he’ll have on our business, I’m excited to partner with JRD as we shape the future of work and set the standard for how data-driven decisions are made by knowledge workers everywhere.
Joe Hill has a remarkable track record as well, with more than 25 years of experience building and scaling software companies, including leading a successful IPO, working as CFO of multiple public companies, and overseeing various funding rounds and acquisitions. Most recently, he was the CFO of Greenway Health, a PE-backed software provider, helping doctors manage their practices as well as electronic health records. Previously, he was CFO at Monotype, a publicly traded software provider for creative services professionals, CFO at Metabolix, a publicly traded biotech company, and CFO at AMICAS, a radiology image solutions provider.
One of the reasons that we are particularly excited about Joe, beyond the depth and breadth of his experience, is that he is known for developing world-class teams. Joe is a fantastic business partner, leader, and mentor to those around him. In addition, Joe brings a wealth of knowledge about building global companies, having managed all financial aspects of international operations and expansion at multiple public companies. As we continue to grow our worldwide customer base and offices, Joe will be instrumental in helping us navigate the complexities that come with our increasingly international operations.
Together, JRD and Joe will play a significant role in shaping our strategy and leveling up our operations as we continue to build the world’s leading search engine for market intelligence. As CPO, JRD will be responsible for building a world-class, global People strategy at AlphaSense. His mandate will also include shaping our culture, driving alignment around and evangelizing the AlphaSense mission, providing leadership to global talent acquisition, spearheading diversity & inclusion initiatives, providing leadership and management development and coaching, and creating approaches to help all employees learn and grow professionally. As CFO, Joe will play an instrumental role in helping to design and build the financial, operational and business intelligence systems that will enable AlphaSense to execute on our growth as we reinforce our leadership position in the market intelligence space. Having seen companies operate at multiples of our current scale, Joe will be instrumental in helping us anticipate what challenges and opportunities we should prepare for when we are 2X, 5X or 10X our current size.
Please join me in welcoming JRD and Joe to AlphaSense.
